Continuation
my icy breath -
trees
darker than the sky
on and on
each passing the other -
raindrops
May rains
at the end of the day
all thin and bare
white clouds
tumble
with the dark
over there -
green fields
warm sunsets
burning a hole
in the evening sky -
a star
sushing and sighing
the grasses and wild flowers -
a beetle in a bowl
a holiday soon
from late summer rains
the grass grows and grows
if I move nothing
that shadow in the corner
will be the same forever
black clouds
yet the rain
sparkles silver
footprints
in the ice
two mice in a bucket
leaves long departed
through rattling branches -
a long ago sun
where little fish
surge and dart
the lake so clear
a bug on the water
we pass
minding our own business
as shadows lengthen
at the time agreed -
cicada clamour
around the moon
twinkling on a necklace -
the summer stars
in the summer sun
the grasses
sush each other
without asking me
a moth plays with the bed light
making giant shadows
skimming the water
a Te Kopua dragonfly
rides the summer breeze
golden apricots
cheap enough yesterday
rotten today
when it rains
where do
the butterflies go?
even in the rain
summers first mosquito
hums a tune
this cooling breeze
how nice it would have been
yesterday
autumn evening
colder toes
brighter stars
the summer grass
bends to avoid
the autumn wind
